Sentara Urgent Care is actively looking for qualified Medical Assistants. As a Medical Assistant with Sentara Urgent Care, you will work directly with a Provider conducting phlebotomy (lab), clinical and clerical duties. This position's primary responsibilities include bringing the patients into rooms, taking vitals, verifying patient information, and preparing them for the Provider. Required Qualifications:

RMA, CMA, Paramedic Certification or EMT-B certifications required
High School Diploma or equivalent required

Schedule: Clinic hours - 8:00a.m. - 8:00p.m. Monday-Friday. Saturday and Sunday, 8am-4pm. Scheduled hours and shifts may vary based on business need and candidates availability.

Job Summary

Perform patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting or one year experience as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman preferred. Phlebotomy experience preferred, plus experience with electronic medical records. Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic) required. Existing Medical Assistants hired prior to 12/1/14 may obtain the Cert MA or Reg MA certification or obtain the Assessment Based Recognition Order Entry (ABR-OE) prior to 6/30/15. BLS required within 90 days of hire.

HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - Certification - National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Certification - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), EMT Advanced - Certifications - National Registry Of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), EMT Basic - Certifications - National Registry Of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - Certification - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
