Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event.

We’re looking to appoint a Medical Services Manager within the Women’s RWC 2025 LOC, based in Twickenham. The Medical Services Manager acts on behalf of RWC2025 and is responsible, in collaboration with the Tournament Medical Director and RWC2025 Medical Advisory Group (MAG), for the scoping, planning and delivery of match day and non-match day medical services to Teams and Match Officials.
There may also be a requirement to support the medical service planning for members of workforce, Tournament Guest Programme and liaison with match venues for provisions for fans.
What you’ll be doing:
- Following advice from the MAG and Tournament Medical Director, scope, plan and implement an appropriate medical services programme for RWC 2025, including delivery of match day and non-match day medical services at match venues and team bases.
- Development of relationships and service level agreements with key external stakeholders to facilitate the provision of medical services in each match city through Private and NHS Primary Care and Secondary Care Specialist Medical Services and procurement of necessary equipment.
- Under the guidance of the MAG, ensure that at all matches there are appropriately qualified and experienced Match Day Doctors (MDD) and Match Day medical teams (including provision of paramedic ambulances) consistent with the standard and needs of elite international Rugby.
- Ensure that there are appropriate medical treatment spaces, equipment and facilities available at all Match venues.
- Scoping and delivery of medical services for Workforce, Tournament Guest Programme and Match Officials.
- Liaison with match venues for the provision of spectator medical services through incumbent suppliers.
- Support Team Medical staff with guidance and processes to practice medicine in the UK, along with how to import any appropriate medical equipment and medication.
- Develop medical services policies, procedures and functional area operating plans in line with World Rugby delivery standards and frameworks for RWC 2025.
- Develop appropriate training and educational programmes to ensure the provision of medical services during RWC 2025 is understood by key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Work with the World Rugby Chief Medical Officer and Tournament Medical Director to support the Medical Advisory Group.
- Oversee the operational delivery of medical services throughout Tournament time.
- Lead in the identification of key issues and relationships related to medical services that are relevant in achieving strategic and operational goals.
- Manage the Tournament budget process relating to the provision of medical services during RWC 2025.
- Monitor and manage medical milestones outlined in the tournament masterplan, ensuring all elements are met on time and to the desired standard, with risks identified and mitigated against.
- Other duties as may be required by the management team to meet the organisational and/or team objectives
Experience & knowledge you’ll need:
- Experience in leading operational planning and delivery of client services for large scale professional rugby tournaments/competitions or alternative international competitions or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience developing and managing relationships with multiple stakeholders across geographies.
- Demonstrable success in managing or leading a project from providing strategic direction and guidance through to overseeing operational planning and delivery.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple individuals across a varied portfolio of responsibilities.
- Proven success in managing budgets.
- Proven experience in understanding and developing operational policies, procedures and processes.
- Experienced in the operational delivery of and/or liaison with Medical provision and services for competitions / matches.
- Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders and proven success at building excellent working relationships.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience in leading in the provision of medical services for large scale professional rugby tournaments/competitions or alternative international competitions or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of statutory regulations regarding medical provision at professional sporting events in England.
- Working knowledge of the public and private sector health services in England.
- Experience in recruitment of specialist (healthcare) staff/volunteers to staff a large scale multi venue professional sporting event.
- Working knowledge of the World Rugby regulations pertaining to medical matters.
